Hi guys,

Hopefully you knowledgeable lot will give me some sound advice regarding the above. Quite simply at the moment I'm on a simplicity rolling contract with O2, however, from the 5th of April I'll be out of the country for about 12-18months. Naturally I'll be using a contract/PAYG (whatever is simplest) in the country I will be in, so I won't need to keep a contract going here.

What is the best way to keep my number 'active' for when I return? Would it be best just to get a PAYG sim and transfer the number (is that even possible?)? Would I need to top it up every month still or could I just keep £10/£20 on the sim so when I'm back it will still be active?

Thanks chaps.

Phone o2 and get them to switch your contract to PAYG. It should last 18 months inactivity before they stop it. (should check to confirm)

I believe if a number is inactive for 6 months the network prvider will cut if off and return the number back to the pool of numbers avaiable.

I would suggest get your PAC get the number put on a PAYG sim with a £10 credid, put the sim in an old phone then get some kind friend to make a 30 second call on it every couple of months. Thats what I do with a number that I'm keeping active.
