Best out of the box performance on LGA1366 platform

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new motherboard, CPU and memory set and will not be overclocking. I have chosen the following and would appreciate any feedback. I'm looking to get the most performance for my money and will be using the upgrade primarily to play the latest games.

Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) - Fastest I could go before cost became a hurdle
EVGA X58 FTW3 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard - Chose this out of the 3 in sacha35's X58 roundup mainly due to lower cost
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit (CMP6GX3M3A1600C7) - Lowest latency

I currently have
4400+, A8N-SLI Premium 3200LL Pro, 8800GTS

I will be reusing the 8800GTS until I have savings to upgrade that later.

Have you thought about waiting for Sandy Bridge on the 9th Jan.

Spec looks ok, only possible change is to look at the Asus Sabertooth which gets good reviews.

Will look into the Sabertooth. Will definitely wait and see how Sandy Bridge turns out but thought I propose a spec for now in case the release turns out to be more of a revision than a mind blowing must do upgrade route. Is it worth considering AMD?

If you're gaming, the i7 is not the processor you should be looking at. If you can wait for Sandy Bridge, do so. Otherwise, get the following:
