What is probs the best overclocking CPU out there? Like the one that just had the highest overclock from stock speed? I'm thinking the P4 northwoods?

I'd say the 775 Celerons, 100% is easy peasy.

Ok, so that's 99.25%, but just wait until I get my new board. :p

What motherboards can really do 400FSB on socket 939? as that'd be a 100% overclock from the mobo too.

the 1700 dlt3c's were superb overclockers - I had one POST at 3GHz from the stock 1.46 on air cooling and Ive read another guy on this forum had one running Windows @ 3GHz on air.

celeron is still a celeron tho, even at 5gig its prolly only just catching up performance wise with a 2.8-3.0gig non celeron P4-D.

True, even at that speed it is still painfully, painfully slow. We were just talking about most Mhz over stock. The chip itself I only use as a load tester and spare anyway, it cost £30 so death from voltage isn't an issue. :p

the best chip in this respect that i actually own at the moment, is an opteron 144, ive posted a screen of what im currently at in a different thread, im just under 3.1ghz stable from 1.8 ghz, thats 1300 free mhz at the moment or a 72% overclock, im only on 1.48volts though so hopefully with 1.52 volts i can get up to 3.3-3.4ghz for an 88% oc :)

Performance wise you'd be best to go for a E6300 as stated above. One of those at 3.2 or 3.3 that has been achieved easily enough on air would beat the pants off any other cpu that's not a C2D.
