Hi guys just received my bfg 7900gt and looking to clock it as i heard they clock really nicely? so what programme is best to do this with? i have the latest forceware installed but there's no option for overclocking in there.
Also has anyone seen or used the NGO NVIDIA Optimized Driver v1.8456 apparently it's meant to optimise everything?

Well, there are a number of things you can use. Coolbits (google it) is the most popular and will probably let you put your 7900gt up to something like 550/1600 without too much effort, though that's the limit it'll let you overclock the memory. ATI tool lets you go further on the memory but takes a bit longer. There is also powerstrip, but i've not really used that too much. Finally there is Rivatuner, but i've never used that for overclocking at all.

I'd recommend coolbits because it is pretty much fool proof and it won't let you damage your card easily.

If you do a volt mod though you can get that 7900gt up to 7900gtx speeds and beyond. It's strongly recommended though that you get some aftermarket cooling like a Zalman vf700 or vf900. But i'd imagine the 1.4v mod would be ok with just the stock cooling as long as you limited yourself to 600/1700 or so.

Coolbits is great for easily obtaining an almost certainly safe overclock. If you're just looking to clock your card to the speeds it has probably passed the memory and GPU manufacturers' test at anyway, Coolbits is just the job. You'll probably get about 20% on both GPU and memory. Install it and set it to detect the best speeds itself. For some odd reason, it resets the refresh rate to 60Hz. You can set it back and keep the overclock, though.

ATI tool, is NOT accurate for nvidia cards yet, it works yes but its not accurate. i left it on overnight twice now and when ive woken, the spinning cube had been artifacting like crazy and yet it claimed theres no errors

I used coolbits first, then tried atitool. Rivatuner doesn't seem to support the 7900GT yet. I haven't tried powerstrip yet.

Coolbits gave me a higher clock but lower memory than atitool when detecting optimal settings.

I have installed Coolbits and tried some modest overclocking of my 7900GT but the clocks are reset on boot every time. I have checked the option to set the clocks on startup but it does not appear to work.

Is there any thing that I need running in startup to set the clocks?

Thanks
