Specifically need one for racing games, trying to play f-zero-x with the joycon is hard because the sticks are so small and sensitive, but will be used for other games.

Have you tried motion steering? A Pro Controller is comfortable to hold and use. If you're looking for something wheel based, you have the HORI Kart Racing Wheel or the Pro version, one of them handheld wheels which a single joy-con fit, or the Numskull Joy-Con Steering Wheel.

I've spend time today looking at how best to play Grid Autosport, which isn't an easy task. For Grid Autosport I'm using a Mayflash adapter with an official GameCube controller, which seems to be the only way to make the triggers somewhat work like on other consoles. Every other option it seems the car will be at 100% or 0% throttle.

Went for a pro controller in the end as anything outside the official gear seemed like too much of a minefield.

Motion isn't supported by F-Zero-X, well it is nearly 25 years old :)

No analogue on switch. Currently using Xbox controller on switch with 8bitdo adaptor. It works fine. Doesn’t add latency as far as I can tell. Tho occasionally the connection will drop even tho I am 3 feet away from the console.

If I was to buy a dedicated controller for the switch then switch pro would be it.

The switch pro is a fantastic controller. Somehow they have managed to fit a battery in it that lasts for absolute ages. If only Sony and Microsoft could manage the same.....
