Hi,

Im looking to passively cool my server, its currently running an E6700 but im thinking of upgrading the cpu to maybe a E7400 and want to passively cool it and keep it as quiet as possible.

Im thinking of a new case too something like a cosmos 1000 but open to suggestions on that too?

And i use the server as a file server for my movies which stream to my media pc, and general storage and a torrent server, thats about it so nothing strenuous at all really.

Cheers

Without a doubt the Zerotherm BTF-95. I've run my E2180 overclocked to 3.4GHz, slightly overvolted and almost completely passive (just the airflow generated by the PSU) and the temperature stays below 40deg in a 21deg room.

stick with the E6700 - the E7400 would be a step down unless you are into undervolting then it's a different story.

Have a look at Mcubed - ideal for a duel core server - not cheap but will get rid off all the fans. If not pay a visit to spcr - should have lots of threads on quiet builds for servers / media centres.
