I'm looking for a 478 CPU cooler. Need it to be decent for perhaps a slight overclock on my brother's aging 2.82GHz P4HT yet quiet enough to to have the cpu in the living room.

The current temps are 50oC idle and approx 70oC under heavy gaming condition. Case temp is around 50oC according to MBM.

Any suggessions will be appreciated :)

Dr Jones:

I use a ThermalRight XP-90 (Socket 754/939/478) Heatsink with a Panaflo 92mm fan on a P4 3.2GHz (H/T) Prescott CPU, have found it a very good combination. :)

Hmm, both ThermalRight uses an alternative fan (require extra :P) That AC Freezer 4 looks wild, but is it performance/quiet? I've never used the scale of Scone, any analogy/idea what 1 Scone is similar to in real live?

Damn I just cleaned out the Stock HSF for that 478 and it's making more noise than it was before. Those dust must have act as a blanket/buffer. But the temp dropped by 2oC so far.

It's sounding like a Hoover, or at least like there's a CD in there spinning. (FYI, no CD in drives)

It's very, very quiet. You would not regret getting one.
