Hello,

So my current Samsung A52s 5G antennae seems to be caput. And rather than spending money to get it fixed (plus security patches only until end of this year I believe?), I'm looking for a phone around the £200-300. I don't do any heavy tasks so don't really want to spend a lot on one.

I mainly browse the internet, stream YouTube/movies, and snap some family photos now and then. I have a Ricoh GRIII so don't need a great camera as that will go with me on holidays, etc. As long as the camera is at least better than what I have now, which I'm guessing isn't too hard to do.

So I guess mainly decent ish battery life and one of the better cameras for the price range is all I'm looking for. I don't like curved screens.

I was initially looking at an S23 refurb for about £270, but have since gone off the idea of refurb as it might be a bit of a gamble as to how good the refurb is/non genuine parts/warranty issues. Also as it's a couple years old, I think security patches are until 2027? I don't chop and change phones, so looking to have something that will reliably last the whole 4 years or so.

Then I found the CMF Phone 2 Pro for about £210 (edit: currently £184 on Prime deal, tempting..) which looks like a bargain, and I like the cleanness of the OS. Looking at that brought me to the Nothing Phone 3a which is on sale for £290, with OIS on the main camera, better processor, etc.

Then looking at about the £300 mark opens up other options, the Xiaomi 14T on offer for £290, OnePlus Nord 4 (the Nord 5 just about to be released), maybe others I've not looked at.

And there's also Prime Deals starting tomorrow, so potentially some phones on sale then.

What do the lovely people of OcUK think?

Bah. 2 weeks ago you'd have got a new S24FE for £229 after cashback :(
:( That's quite a discount!

Motorola Edge 50 Neo?
Slightly slower processor but supposed to be updated until 2029

Looking at comparisons, it seems it's reasonable at everything but not great at anything. But thanks for the suggestion.

Looking a lot today I think I'm gonna pull the plug on the Xiaomi 14T. Looks like far the best camera out of the line up. I don't think the ads/bloatware will bother me too much, and I'm just hoping the battery will be enough for a day use (not that I use it endlessly).

I did have a look at a couple of them but in the end bought the Xiaomi, intrigued with how good the cameras are. If the CMF Phone 2 Pro had just a slightly better camera and OIS, I probably would've gone for that as for under £200 would be hard to beat.
