Running an Asus P5N32 SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 mobo. Unfortunately the latest bios completely sucks for 9 series P4's and gives completely innacurate cpu temps. As a result it isn't possible to use asus smart fan without risking you cpu going up in smoke, and I don't trust the pwm on the board either to control the cpu fan speed.
So I just bought a Zalman CNP9500 cooler and an Akasa AK-FC03 fan controller which I am planning to run it off, and monitor my cpu temps. Just wondering where the best place is to stick the thermal probe. Between the heatpipes over the base of the heatsink, or for a more accurate readout can I risk attaching it to the bottom of the heatsink or possibly on the cpu heatspreader itself.
