best place for server rentals?

looking to rent a server for me and a few friends on minecraft. just wondering what are the best places to rent from? never owned a server for any game before but ive been given the task of setting this one up.
any info is great as searching google at the min but there are sooooo many.

Not only were they good when I needed a bit of help, but the web interface is decent and more importantly when I cancelled 6 months later I didn't have any issues, it just worked!

Plenty of decent hosts out there though, suggest looking at small scale hosts or joining an existing server. There is the Linktart server that's the unofficial-official-unofficial OCUK server

Ever thought of hosting you're own? How good is you're upload/download.

Its not too difficult, made a new one myself recently for friends to play on

5 meg up and 120 down. just dont like the idea of having the pc running 24/7 as i work funny hours so friends wouldnt be able to play unless im on.

You're internets good enough for it, having pc on all the time wont harm it, personally I have a 2nd pc for my servers or sometimes use my laptop.

with that link you could get a very cheap PC and host it on it for about a years worth of subs online.. was a decent suggestion by sjdeany tbh!

I've run a MC server with PlugPayPlay for a few months and been very happy with them. On the one occasion I've had to ask for tech support they got back to me in a couple of hours and fixed the problem right away. They're pretty active on the Minecraftforum.net forums and they've got a 35%-off for life code up there too.

One thing I would say is don't go with Kerplunc/Tree Puncher. When I was with them they were overpriced and had a lot of downtime/niggling problems.

thanks for the info and offers. spoke to my friend about it and he just wants to rent one so will go with that route for now. (hes paying lol) found some cheapish ones around £9-£11 for 20 slots with a bunch of features.
