Best place for sofas without a 12+ week lead time?

Funny thing that - years back I knew a couple who were really into their home decor, and spent literally months finding the right sofa. they reckoned that South Wales was a Mecca for sofas, and travelled there from near Manchester to visit various manufacturers there to make sure they were getting exactly what they wanted.

this anecdote is largely useless to you, as I don't know them any more, and have no idea of the names of the manufacturers they visited. Sorry.

But definitely might be worth googling for independent furniture stores in your area.

lol
To reel him in with such gentle persuasion initially of being able to provide something in some way helpful... then... nope. Skill to be fair.

Depends how fussy you are. You can sometimes just buy reduced ex-display sofas from the big chains.

Our first house, we were literally sack on deck chairs in the living room for weeks, I don't really want to do that again.

Our first house we were young and... well... we didn't have OCUK General Discussion back then so how were we to know Sofas took 12 weeks? We ended up with a TV and a Christmas tree but nowhere to sit.

Sofology usually have a load of clearance sofas, they are mainly brand new nad at a price that is ok vfm, I.e. substantial discount from their normal prices.
They quote 21 days for delivery and as they come from individual stores, you need to be reasonable close. We had a corner sofa + chair the other month, it took 7 days to arrive, from two different stores.. we just popped along to our local retail outlet and they checked/ordered and sorted it all out.

Wow yeah, theres a lot in the clearance section there. We just need to double check what size of sofa we can get in the lounge but looks to be a good selection of 4 seater corner and 4 seater chaises on there. Thanks mate.

This actually looks like a fairly affordable concept and really customisable but the images of the sofas don't scream comfort to me, however I could be wrong.

Have you used these?
I love mine 10 years now i ordered two seats for it this year almost like brand new again a few folk ere have them
Use the seach ere

I was after a sofa last year, DFS, Oakland furnture world etc were saying 6 months for delivery, I bought off Amerzon in the end, black Friday deal.

We got a corner sofa and a snug from a place called Snug... all modular, some nice colours. very please with it.

I've had one for 11 years - still structurally sound but I need to replace the covers.

I went for the Nabru as I have very tight access to the livingroom and getting a regular sofa in would be a swine. Was a piece of cake with the pack-flat Nabru.

I'm not as restricted with access issues at my new place so can afford to go for something chunky if need be.

Not sure i'm convinced on the Nabru's from the pictures online and unfortunately they don't have any showrooms nearby.

it's not just the stores that have 12weeks wait it depends on the manufacturer.

we've been in a number of stores that have stock that can be delivered quickly whilst they also have stuff that will take weeks and also stock that won't be delivered until after Christmas

typically anything we like the look of is after Christmas :( lol

I only buy sofas from outlets now. Most of their stock is from the big companies and are a combination of customer returns, cancellations and display models. You can spot the display models a mile off.
Sofas from DFS, Next etc are a rip off. I spend £3.5k on new sofas, I must have been mad at the time.

The place I mainly use: https://www.worksopsofas.co.uk/

A quick Google flags up some in south wales though, here's an example: https://primasofa.co.uk/about-us/

I would second this, can get some good deals but they will only deliver sofas which are in your regional area so you need to phone them up. Can try before you buy instore too

Based on my experience of buying sofas, finding one you like is the real challenge. If you don't have loads of to choose from, I'd consider getting a temporary one from BHF or something until the one you actually want arrives.

It's ridiculous the wait times for a sofa. I was told it was to do with how things are pretty much "made to order" in the various materials available and layout (left hand/right hand for corner sofas), and then to ensure they rinse you for the maximum profit, they like to ship large numbers of orders over on the same container from China or wherever. When we were looking it was not unusual to walk round stores with sofas over 5k... for. a. sofa. I mean... Classic UK really. We are charged high prices with 12 week wait times coz we keep them in business accepting this as the norm.
£5k to sit in comfort for many years. Bargain.
