Best place to buy computer desks?

I'm looking for a new computer desk or "work station" as so many places seem to call them. Glanced at the Argos catalogue and promptly vomited. I've checked some of the obvious mass retailer websites and some look nice, but it's difficult to sort through them easily, there are car crashes of desks where the printer goes underneath the desk in front of you so you have to crawl under the desk to use it and constantly smash it with your legs when stretching. Or ones where the monitor is to the left of the desk so there's no where to put the speakers, or ones where the keyboard slides out but the mouse goes on top so you have to move your hand a mile to switch between keyboard and mouse or your limb drops off playing fps games from lack of circulation. Are there any decent designers of desks?

Whatever you do don't go to staples, argos or Ikea - unless you want something cheap or you want to pay a lot for only fair quality.

Honestly, big warehouses that deal with office closures and company liquidations etc are the best.

I got a desk that would've cost £200+ for about £120, delivered. Was a complete bargain.

Mine had a tiny bit of aesthetic wear on the legs and the underside, but hell it was a great price and it is a serious desk for serious use - none of this cheap crap.

They have the same stuff as Argos, cheap woodchip desks, not really great for heavy computer use.

Behave! Have had my last two desks from Ikea, current one going strong after 4 years, previous one lasted 5 years. Sure, it's not solid oak, but for the £40 I paid for it... bargain.

After looking at their websites I don't need telling twice, they all look like cheap wood chip desks and have hard rectangular edges which does not look at all stylish to me, I need something with plenty of space for a printer, scanner and tablet and ideally storage. Many I've seen put shelves in front of the legs for a printer which from my experience is terrible for usability and comfort.

Sounds good, url doesn't work though. :p

Lol try again ;) :p

:edit: Hmm after reading your post I'm not sure if you'll find something that's too "stylish", as they just have random stuff from old offices, but you may be lucky. From visiting their warehouse/showroom I got the impression that they seem to turn around a lot of stock very quickly. The best thing about them is that the desks are made for real offices and they aren't expensive.

Stay away from Argos if I was you. I bought one a few years ago that collapsed, broke my brand new £300 TFT Montior aswell as some case damage.

Wasn't happy to say the least.

They seem to have some nice stuff, they don't need to be that stylish just as long as they aren't reminiscent of cheap and nasty ones.

This desk is pretty cheap at just under £100, but it's very functional for computer work as it doesn't require moving across the desk to use the scanner and printer.

I was looking at that desk earlier as well as I am in need of a new one.
Reviews on Amazon are good but the keyboard space is to small and I don't like the printer plinth.

Apart from that it looks sturdy, stylish and a reasonable price.

Going to check out IKEA next weekend to see if they have anything vaguely decent, not getting my hopes up.
