Best place to buy Crysis (that actually works)

Hey,

Been wanting to play Crysis (the orignal,not remaster) so i bought it on steam, The bloody thing refuses to start just a black screen then goes back to desktop.
I've tried all sorts of suggestions on the net loads of people have reported the same issues with some saying its caused by the outdated DRM..so now I've put in for a refund on steam as quite frankly its unacceptable they're selling this game in an unplayable state and you have to go around hoops for ages trying to get it to work. And then there's still people who haven't got it to work just as recent as weeks ago.

My question is, Does anyone have Crysis here on another platform (not steam) that it just works?
i cant be doing with hassle and faff. :D

Thanks all, Ill buy it on Origin soon as steam refunds mine, Its around the same price too which is good. :)

Will a game of that age still run on a modern system and current OS?

I don't see why not, It worked on Windows 7 & Vista but i did try the compatibility mode.

If anything it should run better than ever now with more powerful hardware.
 
Well that was another failure, Doing the exact same thing on Origin..i have now put in for a refund on Origin too.

Guess il skip Crysis then,PC gaming certainly isn't what it use to be :o

If it doesn't launch as expected on 2 separate platforms, And requires many work arounds to get it working from the get go, That imo IS broken. Agree to disagree on this one.
And no, The remaster is a shambles in fact it looks worse than the original lol.

Just fired up the GOG version of this and it's working fine @4K everything Ultra, the only issue I'm seeing is the video sequences seem a bit choppy but the gameplay is fine and it's surprisingly still very pretty even by modern standards.
