Best place to buy webspace with server side scripting..

I'm lookin to buy some webspace with server side scripting allowed (specifically ASP and PHP).

Where is the best place to start looking?

My isp is Blueyonder so naturally I had a look there but they wanted to charge me £120 for a year!

ASP and PHP will be rare to find...PHP is commonly available on *nix setups whereas ASP is Windows-based.

So you'll have to have a Windows-based server - Catalyst2 offer PHP & ASP here

They also seem to have a good rating on www.ochostreview.co.uk

Not really - just means you're restricted to Windows. But as you're doing ASP primarily that's probably what you use anyway

providers using plesk for windows will be able to offier asp, asp.NET and php support.

I am just about to register a .co.uk domain name with 123-reg.
Is it as simple as registering my domain name and then transfering the name to say tsohosts to host my site?

Register the domain, then adjust the nameservers to your host's nameservers in order for it to start working

Most hosts ask you for the domain name you'd like to use when you sign up, however with tsohost I believe you choose a [something].tsohost.co.uk subdomain and then need to fiddle with cPanel's parked domains to setup a domain - ask their support

£15 for the year and 250MB space with ssi.. its a steal..

Also, you can run mod_mono on any *nix environment but I wouldn't install it on a production shared server

To the OP, I think you'll be fine with Catalyst2 if you want Windows hosting.

SSI are server-side includes, so no it doesn't mean ASP.
