oooh, while everyone's looking at this (presumably some people might know something about coffee), what do people recommend as a grinder and as an expresso machine?

I currently have a cheapo morphy richards jobby, but am looking to spend a bit more money on a half decent one.

Any tips/hints would also be appreciated.

you'll need a grinder that can adjust corse settings, as for espresso machine, Gaggia Classic is a good make and model. Tried and Tested, and it's what i am going to get.

how much do you want to spend, I work for Matthew Algie, and we have a lot of machines available although not many that come into the real world price bracket.

if you want quality machines look for something from elektra best in the business.

Hehe, well probably not more than a couple of hundred pounds I suppose.

I'm aware that you can get huuge ones that are plumbed in etc, but I don't think I drink that much coffee (or am at home for enough time) to justify that sort of cost.

hey theres a 1group elektra on the bay just now looks pretty good 400 notes :)

thats bloody cheap and about a fifth of the rrp :)

also a brand new elektra micro for 600 :) bloody lovely i'm almost tempted instead of a new mobo/cpu/gpu combo :)

get your beans freshly roasted too
makes a hell of a difference

and bin your grounds after use

grind your beans fresh every time :)

I've tried Celebes Toraja Kalosi (ref KAL1), but i found that quite mild, don't have the kick i usually want. It's nice to drink in the afternoon but in the morning i want something stronger. Not really tried many, I ususally get them from Starbucks.

I am tempted to try this

http://www.hasbean.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=44_56&products_id=57

If its a little cheaper !
