My dad recently bought a car with a private plate which he didn't want, so he applied to transfer it to my car. I've just got the paperwork in confirming the transfer has gone through, so now I need to get the plates made up.

I seem to remember there was a site everyone recommended but I can't remember the name of it. Basically, I just want standard plates with the little GB logo at the side, as cheap as possible really.

Any recommendations?

just a warning to avoid http://www.signature-plates.co.uk/

ordered standard plates from them, sent the reg number in in format AB12ABC and they made it illegally spaced because "I didn't put the space in"

you would have thought a quick email to query wouldn't have been too much

Cheers guys, think I'll use the ebay ones Adam posted as they're cheaper than fancyplates and seem to be pretty much the same thing.

eBay ones are good, i've had a couple of pairs and they're just the job. Makes it easier as well not having to give out V5 information to some random company too!

I'd rather give my money to companies who follow the law correctly, and wouldn't let anyone order a set of number plates featuring my registration mark without checking.

They do follow the law correctly. They make the plates to the correct specification, and they use a disclaimer that they are for show use only purely because they haven't seen the v5.

The plates themselves are fine. I bought a set off an eBay seller. They were properly constructed, with all the correct markings, fonts, spacing and EU symbols. I doubt you'd get into trouble using them. Buy with confidence.

Including the postcode of the plate maker?

Just ordered a set of standard ones to replace my cracked and generally worn out ones for the pug. No questions asked.

Local motor factors, delivered.. £4.50 :D

Should be here on the next van

I use Fancyplates. Good service and they have the BS mark and their postcode in a tiny little font so they're fully legal.

I think it did.

I've sold the car now so I can't go and double check, but I remember it having the name of the company on the bottom of the plate.

EDIT: Checked my ebay history, I used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Single-GB...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc2121086

Our plates are manufactured to all BSA145d standards and carry all the required BS Mark, Suppliers Name and Postcode to ensure they conform with current regulations.

We cannot remove the supplier name/postcode or BS Mark. We will not mis-space or mis-represent a number plate"
