Best position to site aio gpu cooling fan?

Just picked up a gpu with an aio cooler rad and 120mm fan but B grade from overclockers and without instructions.

Should I site the fan at the front of my case or the top?

Does it matter? More interested in noise than temps.

Top or rear, the GPU is probably the hottest component in your computer and personally I would want all that heat dumped outside the case instead of in so it doesn't heat up everything else.

What card was it BTW? I recently had a 290 with an aio cooler on it for a day and had it as an exhaust and it worked well

I find the front is the best as an intake. Tried it on the rear as an outtake and the ambient internal temperature is lower if placed on the front. Cold air blowing on the AIO rad which is cooling the hottest component in your PC. Dont forget if its top or rear and an outtake you get the hot air off your GPU and CPU blowing through the rad. Horses for courses not everyone does the same but personally cold air onto a rad is better than hot air onto a rad.

So I have top front as intake is AIO GPU. Bottom front blowing cold air onto GPU itself. Side intake blowing cold air onto GPU itself. Rear outtake is a push/pull AIO rad for the CPU. My CPU maxes at 65c and my GPU about 50/60c sometimes less. Suits me fine.

Depends where your case is ? On floor or at ear level. You would hear it more on top than at the front I would have thought. All my fans are connected to a 5 speed controller along with NZXT CAM software to control CPU pump and I just have a low rumble with all my fans at around 900-1000RPM. Current idle internal temp is showing as 26c (probe at top of case). If I recall gaming temp is about 34c.

Many thanks to all its a waterforce 1080. To be honest I took a gamble on this as it was so cheap (relatively speaking' nearly £200 off rrp.

I have installed the fan at the top and it's working but am not happy at present with pump noise. Firstly it gurgled like an infant which I assume was removing any trapped air(?) and now there is a gurgle or rattle at idle which is loud enough to be annoying to me.

At load this disappears and a quick run of heaven which previously would have been ear shattering at 100% fan was very quiet and didn't break the 40 centigrade barrier where as my previous 1080 was throttling at 80 centigrade.

It might take a couple of days for it to settle down. Personally never had a noisy pump and currently running a NZXT X40 and a Corsair H80.

Check the pump bracket is secure double check all the connections. If its still doing it open your case and whilst you can hear your rattle place your finger on the top of the pump and apply slight pressure - does the rattle stop ? Might be a fan ? Then try same on the bracket and on the pipe connectors. Process of elimination. Just dont touch anything you shouldnt.

Alternatively if you cant identify where the rattle is coming from use the empty toilet roll method as an ear trumpet.

Many thanks for your advice but I RMA'd it today as I didn't want to try and fix what was essentially a new gpu and didn't want the problem to return when it's not so easy to return the card!
