Hi,

I have been using the Asus P5K for more than 2 years and been happy with it so far apart from some sudden startups that happened very recenty (3 times in 10 days).
I searched the net for a new mobo but I haven't followed the technology lately and most companies seem to have abandoned the 775 slot. Could you please suggest a mobo for 775. Asus is my favourite for the last 6 years...

1 PCI-E slot
4 dimm slots (8GB)
4 chassis fan connectors (ATC 840 case)
most possible USB connectors
e-sata
my cpu is 9550 not overclocked
X-Fi Music
ATI Radeon 9570
huge thermaltake heatsink

thank you in advance

Hi

You ideally want something like asus rampage formula x48 although very hard to find new or asus p5q delux although you will be hard pressed to find these new too.

The p45 chipset are best for overclocking quad cores 45nm chips, actually the p5q deluxe is better than the rampage formula. you don't have much motherboard options really anymore.

Asus P5Q Deluxe still seems to be the best 775 board. There was Gigabyte GA EP45 UD3P mobo on par with P5Q Deluxe or even better but doesn't seem to sell in UK.

Best 775 mobo I had was the asus blitz. Far and away the highest clocking however they are like rocking horse poo so I doubt you will find one. Failing that the P5Q deluxe is an excellent board too.

I wouldn't pay a premium for the x38/x48 chipset unless crossfire was a neccessity.

Another vote for the P5Q deluxe. Best board I've owned to date. Feature rich, but most importantly, very stable for overclocking.

If you can find it the DFI Lanparty P45-T2RS is probably my personal favourite 775 MB. Otherwise with a single PCI-E the Lanparty DK P35 is fantastic and is easily the best 775 MB i've owned especially if you like to tweak - as it happens I have one for sale, along with a QX9650...

Sudden startups? By that do you mean it powering on by itself? If so it could be the power switch in your case. I had a case with a dodgy power switch and it would randomly boot and then power itself off. Opened the switch up and cleaned it though which fixed it.

Sorry!! Some sudden shut-downs, but they haven't happened for a while..

Ahh I see. My vote goes towards a Gigabyte motherboard as they're rock solid and offer cracking performance and features for the price. My EP45-DS3 has tons of stuff including Crossfire and overclocks well too :)

+1 for the p45 p5q dlx, as the op is running a q9550, the p45 chipset will be better for overclocking compared to x48, seen a few users on here who had fsb limitation issues with 45nm quads on x48 boards, issues that were resolved by switching to p45 boards.
