Afternoon, Ladies/Gents

I'll be purchasing a pre-built machine for my brother at some stage this week and the budget is £950 with no room to go any higher. Ideally I'd have preferred to buy the parts and self-assemble but he wants the pre-built and the warrant implications that come with it. Never mind!

I'm looking at the "Titan Tanto DC" as the PC of choice as we can get that well within spec but is there something more powerful to be had that I may have overlooked? As he'll be gaming on it, will the 4790K be worth the premium over the 4690K and will 8GB of RAM be fine against 16GB?

Just need some help getting as much gaming power as possible within the price range. Cheers.:) Quite happy to ditch aesthetics if it means more grunt under the bonnet. That's what matters after all.

I'd ring or use the live chat with OCUK and give them your budget as they might be able to spec you something different.

I'd stick with the i5 and 8gb ram for gaming but try pushing the 960 upto a 970. The Project cars pre built system comes with the 970 you just need to change to a ssd and a 1tb hdd.

That's good to know. If I was just buying the parts I'd build it myself though! Brother wants the pre-build and I'm just trying to see the extent we can go within those confines. was hoping for a 5820 setup under a grand but those CPU's only seem to come with the more extreme bundles.

maccy: the report screen kept the little 'loading' animation going as though it wasn't actually completing and sending anything. Sorry about all the dupes.
