Im asking what is the best Prescott cooler? I will be doing some overclocking if I can get away with it with a decent cooler.

Im only willing to use air cooling, but am a bit out of touch with everything available.

Thats good to hear. What fan did you use to cool it so much that you got 800mhz extra performance? If I can clock my P4e 3.2 to that level then I will be well happy.

I am only able to get it slightly above stock due to it having the dreaded stock cooler on. Ive got an IC-7 Max 3 mobo so can clock it as high as it can manage as soon as I remove the OTES that is currently blocking me putting on any decent heatsinks

I have changed the e-mail address in trust now, it was an old one that I forgot to change to my current address I use all the time.

I didnt know that there was mods to be done on this mobo? I thought that ABIT did all the modding that needed to be done anyway? One kind of "mod" that I know I need to do is get that OTES device off, as I can only fit on a stock sized cooler with it there, which is keeping only letting me get to 3.4ghz at best so far

The trouble is that I have an SI-120 & Akasa Amber, and I tried to fit this onto the mobo, but the OTES was getting in the way so I have had to make do with the stock cooler which is rubbish TBH, even working on stock speeds its useless at cooling it to the degree im after.

Im really a newb at all this, how hard is all this "modding" going to be?

Thats going to be hard, as there is heatpipes on both sides of it which makes it pretty impossible to do unless there is a recommended heatsink & fan that will overclock better and also fit more easily as well?

Specs: IC-7 Max 3
P3.2 Prescott
2 x 1GB XMS Corsair Ram @ 3-3-3-8
Tagan 480W
120gb & 80gb HDD
Gainward 6800GT (Soon to be Gainward 7800GT - AGP)

Not sure what else you will need to know, thats all I can think of.

Wish there was someone that could do all of the mods for me, someone that knows what they are doing as im not sure I would be good enough to play around with it. In saying that, this rig will have to last me another year before a big upgrade to bring me upto speed with everything

I think I would probably prefer my IT guy to do NB modding as I dont want to do anything wrong there, I just dont trust myself around the PC as I just like it working without any problems. It has cut me off twice, probably due to me setting a heat level auto switch-off which is quite worrying as I was not stressing it much, just playing a Fritz chess game?

Also, when coming to install the Akasa fan above the SI-120, I cant seem to find a way of getting the Akasa fan to stay there for some reason, im just clueless when it comes to all this

I set the shut down when it reaches 80C, and am surprised when it just switches off, kind of makes me worried about how bad that stock cooler is.
Not sure if he will know about modding the board, but I certainly wouldnt risk it myself as I can be heavy handed at times.
