Best "Pro" Android in the 6.1" Size Category

I fancied a "Pro" Android and had my eye on the Pixel 8 Pro, but comparing it to my S22 I've realised that I prefer the smaller screen size. I see the iPhone 15 Pro is the right size but I just don't know if I could get on with an Apple device and that camera cut out.

What is considered the best 6.1" range Android? I'm specifically looking to ensure 120Hz, best display and performance although I suppose for me personally, absolute top notch performance probably isn't essential as I don't game on my phone.
 
I'm also looking to upgrade my phone and have had smaller phones around the 6in size.

I currently have a Sony Xperia 5ii, and whilst I like it a few issues are occuring:
Even though I've had battery care on since new (only charging to 90%), battery life is pretty bad now. According to accu battery I have 75% of the advertised capacity available.

Performance issues are evident sometimes, things will freeze and I'll need to lock and unlock the phone or even restart.

Fingerprint sensor keeps complaining too many attempts, even if my phone is in my pocket and I just pick it up.

My current list of phones that I've been thinking upgrading to are:

Xperia 5 V. Unlikely though due to only 2 years of software support. Also don't like that it's no longer a true flagship with different cameras.

Galaxy S23. Most probable at this stage. Slight concern on battery life but seems to tick most of my needs.

Google Pixel 8. Currently waiting for battery tests.

Galaxy S24. Wait till Jan for new announcement.
 
S23 would be my choice. 256GB or above for the faster UFS storage. Battery life way improved over S22 thanks to SD 8 Gen 2 versus crappy exynos on S21/S22

I think we might be close enough now that S24 is worth waiting for, even if just to pick up the S23 cheaper if the spec is similar enough?

Yeah, if you have an S22 then defo wait for S24. Then you could either go for Pixel 8 Pro or the S24. Will be some good launch offers on S24 as well if last S23 launch is anything to go by.
