best proggy to delete files from server 2003

had a friend delete a large folder and now needs two files back, the server has not been restarted and the bin was only emptied due to its size, anyone used any good apps for this?

i use ontrack data recovery for all types of data recovery but it is not free.

I accidentally deleted 26,000 files from a server in work and used this
to restore them

I put in on a usb memory stick and plugged it into the machine
and ran the app from there

+1, I've had some good success with it. My Grandad overwrote some CF Cards, managed to get all of the files back for him within a few minutes. Holiday memory saved.

Never had any luck with recuva...

Could I be doing something wrong? I've even tried simulated deleting/recovering with no joy

Did you have shadow copies enabled? It may be in there.

If it is just two particular files that need to be recovered then DiskDigger (Google it) is quite good also if Recuva doesn't work. .

im gonna head over this weekend and take a look, the sever has two physical drives drive, the files were deleted of the secondary drive, so im hoping i can install on c and recover
