I have an ATI 5570 gfx card plugged into my 1080p TV via HDMI to provide picture and sound, just wondering really what the best program would be to watch 1080p bluray movies on my PC, displaying on my TV?

thank you

Jamie

If it's blu-ray rips, then MPC-HC is indisputably the best player.

Not sure about actual Blu-ray discs. But MPC can play those aswell.

Since you're specifying 1080p rather than just saying blu-ray I assume you're talking about your pirate stuff. In which case MPC-HC - http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64 . If it's actual Blu-rays then still MPC-HC unless you care about menus but you'll need AnyDVD HD too.

I just use VLC. It pixelates for a few seconds if you skip through bits but it is a lightweight player and best of all the video and sound stay in sync.

VLC is awful and has no DXVA support so it's not exactly lightweight during playback.

I use Media Player classic - home cinema, but just recently I have been using splash player which IMHO seems to be better at 1080p and is available for free download here

Players:
KMPlayer (32-bit only), MediaPlayerClassic, MPC: HomeCinema(64-bit), PowerDVD
Codecs:
CoreAVC (multicore, software), FFDShow (multicore, hardware), Cyberlink (hardware)

The best is probably MPC: HC. No other player can decode DTS-HD audio.
Unfortunately even MPC:HC cannot play all videos. I have some dodgy H264 videos that won't decode with CoreAVC/FFDShow and stutter when they do play.
