Hi guys and girls, I am looking for a program that will give me Hard drive, CPU and other system temperatures, I not only would like a program that throws any old figures at me, but a program that is accurate to the nearest degree as I am doing some fan comparisons.

And importantly, it has to be free :)

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

And Merry Xmas.

I use hwmonitor. You need to have some pretty relaxed standards to consider the temperatures accurate, but for a constant processor they should let you rank fans in order of performance. Just don't expect the numbers to match what a calibrated thermometer would tell you.

Thanks for the info. I got an average temperature of 40c.

I don't think that's too great. Or is it?

You need your ambient temp to see how effective your cooling is...

All temps are relative to ambient room temp. Here I use a DMM with the thermocouple near the intake (front) of my computer.

The ambient temperature is 20C.

This is idle. I recently installed a better CPU cooler, one of the Akasa ones with LEDs. However, it is far too loud and will be selling it. I am thinking of replacing the stock one with a heatsink without a fan? Will this be effective or is a fan quite necessary? Thanks.

Or I was thinking....

Seems cheap, effective a quiet.

You can use a heatsink without fans, just any overclock you do won't be anything overly special, also temps won't be anything to right home about either, but any top quality heatsink alone, can cope with dual and qauds, that are not overly volted.

Ofcourse it really helps if your airflow through your case is good.

Any of these below without fans are very good aslong as case airflow is good.

Or ideally noctua's new beast of a cooler http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=34&lng=en would be ideal for fanless running i think.

Ok thanks for that info.

I am tight on cash so this seems a better option for me:

I know it has a fan, but the reviews say that it is extremely quiet.

I can't really comment on the airflow...I have an 3 outtake fans, rear, side window and PSU.

I also have a stock cpu cooler for my quad and a stock fan on my 9800GT. I have no INTAKE except I have an NZXT M59 which is meshed front and rear so I should have thought it would draw it through there.

The ratings on the CPU cooler linked above seems ok, what are your opinions?

Thanks
