best program for running windows VISTA or XP on a MBP

Bootcamp so you can run Windows natively. Parallels or VMware Fusion to run it virtually.

In your case of using Windows for games, go for Bootcamp. Games will suck virtually.

Bootcamp if you want to reboot and use the full power of your mac, you need to do this for games really.

VMWare Fusion for just running a windows program whilst you're on OSX. I've ran Parallels in the past and VMWare is just a lot easier for me. It allows you to have 1 install of windows that you can use for Bootcamp and VMware. Drag drop things from OSX to Windows, loads of really great things :)

Games = Bootcamp, annoying as you will have to reboot into Windows but will run it natively so will give the best performance.

Crossover Games will work sometimes but is poorly supported. Doesn't require a Windows install, PC games install as if they are native on OS X. Email me if you want a link to Crossover Games, it's free. Worth a go, if it doesn't run or not very well then you can always try Bootcamp.

Parallels and VMware are no good for games, lack the support so games will run terribly. Best to avoid that route.
