best program to show my cpu clock speed

basically how can i tell if my first ever overclock has worked.
i found some base settings on this forum & used them to o/c my Q9650
how can i check my cpu speed

looks like my fist o/c is a success.
just a question if i may -
when pc my is under load it reports 3600mhz multiplier 9
when it's idling it reports 2400mhz multiplier 6
pc runs fine
is this normal or do i need to change something in my bios
my m.b. is a P5QPRO btw

That's Speed Step, it's lowering the clock speed to save power.
