OK - I've been putting a spec together for a PC to use for various things, including Photoshop CS4 on Vista 64. See: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17932055 if you're interested.

The current spec is as below, but subject to some possible change, especially to the GPU and maybe the PSU.

But, assuming everything else remains as shown, what size PSU do I need and which one do you recommend?

Many thanks.

Probably the one you've already specced, or a similar powered Seasonic :) (Pretty much the same PSU anyway)

It's been suggested that I could comfortably use something smaller - circa 500W.

Also, this one isn't modular.

So - any thoughts on those two points....?

Would 500W be adequate?

Is there a modular PSU, at whatever the appropriate wattage is, that is 'highly regarded' and good value.... Or am I asking too much ;)

Thanks all.

So is the general consensus that circa 300W is probably all this needs - so a circa 500W PS is ample and allows for some later expansion etc.

That being the case - is the 520w a better option than the currently spec'd (and cheaper) 650w, just because it's modular - or are there other reasons?

Is Corsair the only PSU supplier worth considering?

Thanks

i'm only suggesting corsair as it is what i've had, and from experience they're good PSU's.
This is modular and if that's important to you will easily do the job.
if modular is not important the 650W you selected will be great for it and is cheaper. i find it better to get a PSU that is more powerful than you currently need, for future upgrades..
