best quality cd rip for ipod?

ive got some cds i want to put on my ipod but i want them to be best quality possible regardless of file size.

last time i did them i just did it quickly thru itunes but i want to redo them with the best possible quality to go onto my ipod.

whats the best way?

Just set iTunes to rip them to ALAC (lossless) and tick the error correction box.

XLD is the only way to go for accurate ripping, and you can rip direct to ALAC.

Which is odd as ALAC was open sourced by Apple quite a while ago now so it would take nothing to add support

Apple Lossless with error correction or WAV if you want to ensure they play on everything.

It takes no time at all to transcode to FLAC or something else if you need to.
