I've replaced a number of switches around the house with ones that fit the period of the rooms, however, I'm now just looking for a simple, white, plastic light switch. I looked in B&Q and have look online. There are tonnes. Some are crap plastic, some of too stiff, some were too loose.

Are there any 'recommended' brands? It's for the bedrooms. Needs to be a good quality, long lasting etc.

Cheers.

I'm a fan of MK switches, used them all over my house during a recent renovation. Nice, simple, good quality white plastic light switches. There is also a good selection in the same range for things like 3 gang, sockets, etc. Screwfix stock a good range of them

MK, British General and LAP.

I prefer LAP, which have more of a rounded finish and you can conceal the screws. they are also good value for money.

I have a mix of LAP and Deta switches in my house. The Deta switches are clearly better quality. They have a nicer feel to them, and out of the 4 I have, all are still excellent. I wouldn't say that LAP, from my experience, are great quality. As from the 3 I have, I've already replaced two within the first year as they developed a fault.

I've gone for Schneider Lisse since I've run out of budget for their ultimate flat plate metal ones that I wanted.
The lisse range has blanking plugs for the screw holes, rounded corners, seem well made and are cheap.

All MK here, a mixture of their modular "Grid" units for anything with a Z-Wave module in the back box and just their regular (Logic Plus?) switches and sockets elsewhere.

All good for the 4+ years we've been here, the plastic is somewhat anti-microbial, and they are such a standard/common design that they basically disappear, whereas IMHO some over designed units make a feature out of the switch/socket.
