The Asus DCu-II seems very quiet (triple slot cooler). They don't have the Windforce 3x models in that roundup tho.

Anyone know if the Windforce is better/cooler/quieter than the Asus?

Ultimately I know Asus' warranty is very poor, so that's definitely a factor too.

P.S. Is the TF3 really as loud as it seems from those vids?

I should mention that I don't intend to over volt, and it'll probably be overkill for me at 1080p without OC'ing at all :p But ofc I'll OC it a little, would be rude not to!

So with that in mind, it shouldn't get too hot, hopefully. I really am after as quiet as possible, but still able to play at close to solid 60FPS :)

The TF3 on that vid was like a hoover tho, and I've heard others say the same :/ Maybe there is some sample variance. Maybe your card is a good one.

I think the quietest 7950 is the Asus dcii which was tested on toms hardware. Il admit it does sound like a Hoover over 65% fan. But like I said under 60% speed it's quite. I'm really happy with mine I got the fan on 60% with an overclock of 1200 core and max temps are 65 c. I can't hear the fan at 60 % speed with the headset on :)

I have the windforce and it's triple fans are extremely quiet.

Their cooling performance to noise ratio are imo. fantastic.

Best £249 I've spent.

I have the MSI twin Frozr III, and it's very quiet below 65%, but over that it gets a bit noisy (still quieter than my reference cooler 5850 by a mile though!). It does start getting a bit hot when you overvolt so it'll get noisy, but I have also opted to just push the clocks up while leaving volts at stock to keep it quiet. Not silent, but my case fans are louder at full whack.

To be honest I don't think I'll get the TF3. I have a WindForce GTX460 atm, and that is bliss. I don't want anything louder than what I've got currently, so it looks like it's between the Asus and the Gigabyte atm.

Anyone know what the Vapor-X is like in comparison? Supposed to be quiet isn't it?

TF3 isn't quiet if you're overclocking. I wouldn't say it's the quietest even if you don't tbh and I'm not anal at all about noise. It is louder than both my reference 680 and Windforce 680 while overclocked by a considerable margin but this is probably more to do with the lack of voltage control on the 680's.

The Windforce/DCUII are generally the quietest ones but any custom cooled card if you're not overvolting will be pretty quiet.

Guess I'll wait for a good deal on the WF or DCu2 cards then :)

There were some early problems with the DCu2 heatsink becoming detached from the chip itself - hopefully this is fixed with the V2 design.

I am, the WF@stock can't be heard at all, same goes for the reference 7970 too, the His-IceQ is let down(for me) by a slight scraping(best way to explain it) niose, it's weird.

Take note that the only noise coming from my rig@stock is a very slight hum from the pump-there is zero fan noise at all.:D

Take them to load and the reference fan gets very loud, the WF although not as bad, gets noisy too if the core goes above 60c, under 60c it's not too bad, the IceQ is transformed though as it is the quietest by a country mile with no sign of the irritating scraping noise with the bonus of being the only cooler-reference aside, to vent air out the back of the case.
