currently got 2 x swiftech helix fans think theyre 1850rpm pwm came off a old h220 AIO

theyre do the job good but would like to try something else

im sure there is some better, would like the best if possible

the case is open air, fans will be on a EK 240mm rad blowing air upwards

fans ive had - corsair sp120 - EK Vardar - hated the noise the Vardar made also sp120 was quiet but performance was not there

I know a lot of people will say gentle typhoon but been seeing bad reviews from the latest batch out on a certain retailer so abit skeptical

Fractal Design Venturi HP12 is a great rad fan ive got 12 of them for a 480 + 360 SR2 rad

PWM, looks good, very well built and a lot quieter than the noctua's at the same RPM

performance wise they are pretty much the same as the Gentle Typhoons 1850s

i got them also and i compared the two and the temps where exactly the same

this review agrees http://thermalbench.com/2016/04/18/fractal-design-venturi-hp-12-120mm-pwm-fan/

I still find Noctuas the best performing for the lowest noise. Quieter fans don't do the job, more powerful fans are notably noisier.
Interestingly, you've already looked at the other brands I'd have suggested.

Ultimately, though, the same fans can give vastly different results in different cases, depending on your individual build and the only way to be sure (aside from taking off and nuking the entire site from orbit) is to mess around and try them.

Still using my 560 rad mounted externally with 4x140 low rpm fans £10 each from x58, x79, x99.

Can't believe the price of some fans, get a good case mine's fitted with 3x140 low 900rpm fans bought a extra 2x140 fans £10 each and the 1x120/140 fans came with the case.

Rad fans run at 1000 rpm, case fans controlled by the mobo very quiet indeed you can just hear the PSU fan.

the industrial noctuas are very well made fans I have used the 3000rpm 140mm ones at full pelt they are very loud and pc sits an inch above the floor & moves massive amounts of air when I turn them down though they are quieter and move much less air I should imagine the 120mm ones are just the same. really cant believe I just typed that sentence

the noctuas are good though but finding a fan that moves loads more air than everything else whilst remaining quiet is like trying to find a unicorn

I've had both Vardars and Scythe Gentle typhoons and the Vardars weren't as quiet as the Typhoons, in fact they sounded like a pc case fan from the 90s (so much bearing noise), I was really surprised and disappointed. I also didn't see a performance improvement to the Typhoons at the same fan speeds or lower fan speeds. To me the Vardars felt like cheap rip off's of the Gentle Typhoons and got returned.

Only problem with Gentle Typhoons is Scythe stopped making them so are hard to come by, unless you are lucky and find some on the bay. You can however get Darkside Gentle Typhoons but these only seem to be sold outside of the UK.

Personally my fav rad fans are the Gentle Typhoons and Be Quiet Silent Wings 3.
