Hey guys, whats the best ram to get for my new build, ive got about a £100 budget, is smaller ram say 8gb with higher speeds say 2400mhz, better than 16gb of 1600mhz?

very much depends what you'll be using the PC for, at the moment 16GB will only be an advantage on something that wants to use more than 8GB, which at the moment games don't really touch. The only reason 16GB is much use for now, is if you are running several virtual machines.
On the other hand, I'm assuming from your statement of a new build, that you are going for sandy or ivy bridge, in which case the scaling above 1600MHz isn't all that good anyway.

in summary, if you only want something to play games on, just get 8GB of 1600MHz from a decent brand (corsair, samsung etc) and add the other £50 to your graphics budget.

however if you are going for an X79 based (socket 2011) system, you'll want to use the quad channel capabilities, so go for 16GB (4x4GB)
