Best recovery software? Lost photos on CF card.

Hey, I've been rather silly and have deleted some photos on a CF card - I was wondering if anyone could recommend some recovery software - I use a Mac, I do have a CF card reader (though it seems to be temperamental - I presume most recovery software could work with the card plugged into the camera too?).

I've done a quick search myself but most sites seem to be spammy review sites full of ads, referral links and **** articles which I don't necessarily trust.

Is there good free/open source software for this that isn't too crippled/limited or do I need to pay to get something decent?
 
I've recently used photorec to recover about 30gbof pics accidently deleted. Just make sure you source the latest version direct.

Uses a DOS prompt to run from within windows, but with a little reading worked a peach.

Not 100% sure it'd work on an SD card, but I think it should. Also just make sure it recovers to a separate drive.
 
I found the Mac options were limited when I previously had to do this, ended up using Recuva on a windows machine and worked a charm. Although IIRC I need to access the card via a card reader opposed to in camera.
