Best Red Wine for £30?

What do they like? What are they going to drink it with? Any favourite regions or countries?

Impossible to recommend something without knowing what they like.

Vague question is vague.

I would go into a wine shop, have you any nearby? Describe the person's likes/dislikes and let them recommend some things to you. There's a brilliant wine shop in my local town and he has picked out some gems in the past.

I'm a big fan or Bordeaux and Chateauneuf du Pape for anything over £20.

Best bet is to go to your local wine shop and ask to speak to their sommelier, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Also, just because it's expensive doesn't make it good! I'm loving Penfolds Rawsons Retreat at the moment and that's well under a tenner a bottle - very drinkable!

Bit hard to guess on someone else's taste but I recently had a bottle of Mcguigans Black label Merlot, very cheap but great for having with a nice steak.

Pretty sure sainsbury's were doing a deal on that a while ago. Good drinker that one!

For £30 I'd be looking for something from Bordeaux.
