I’ve long since uninstalled Ccleaner, but miss the utility of a safe, one click clean up and the ability to decide which programs automatically start with Windows.

BleachBit has been touted as a replacement, but the internet seems to thing that it either does very little or it nukes your OS.

What’s everyone using to keep their PCs tidy?

Ccleaner has broken security and has been known to run updates in the background without permission.

I would take that with a pinch of salt and I use the Pro version which has expired so still works and auto updates but no support if I need it, (never have) for it and a nag now and then.

I make sure its a clean installer (the issue was it could install 3rd party crap).

I've used bleachbit without problems for a good while now. However, I find it increasingly pointless as most of the junk it cleans is stuff that regenerates through normal use.

If you're after something for startup tasks, give autoruns a go. Direct from Microsoft.
