Anyone know best res?

looking at 22 - 24 screens is it 1920 * 1080 or 1920*1200

would a 5890 be able to run them resolutions on latest games like NFS:S with 3 screens as my 260 gtx only gets 2-3 FPS with 3d stereo which is just doing 2 images but gets 50-60 fps on normal

Tbh i'd go with a 16:10 resolution. Because you will have massive width already the extra height will be invaluable.

I currently run at 3x1680x1050, with a 5870, i can max out all games quite easily with 60+ FPS. Although AA really does cripple anything new, although with a little OC + 9.11 drivers i can run MW2 Maxed with 4xAA.

Obviously running at 5760x1200, this may not be the case. If you have the cash i personally would go with a 5970(If this is what you meant by the '5890'), but a 5870 does stand its ground quite well.

I just got my setup yesterday which is 3x1920x1080 and I must agree you do miss the height a little. I only lost 0.5" compared to my 22" but it feels like 2" at first. I will surely get used to it and already over the hour or 2 I played last night I started getting used to it.

I would say the only difference would be price if you want a 16:10 monitor with a Display Port, I managed to get my 21.5 for £150 but generally 22/23 at 16:10 are £230+.

My 5870 has been coping fine and I haven't actually noticed any frame rate drops by eye and I don't really record my frame rates. I think AA does cause a bit of a hit though from what I've read.

As you can see from the picture it does look a little narrow but for the amount of money I saved I can't say it's that bad :P + 1080 movies/PS3 etc will be more suited to the Dell monitor.

Yes I was only driving with one hand as the flash wouldn't work properly with me in the way.

Well you do realise that you need one monitor with a display port right?
Or an active adapter which do cost a fair bit. But there has just been a confirmation that a displayport > VGA works now, but do you really wanna use VGA? :)

The monitors im using are p2210's that are £205 from Dell, But now they sell the 23" version for the same price. (Only option i had due to having to buy it on finance ><)

So £150 max is very hard to do tbh.
You could buy 3x samsung 2233BW's and the VGA adapter i guess.

thanks for reply

what monitors wil be good for this then. looking to spend £150 each max if possible?

Well all together mine costed about £360-370ish for all 3 monitors + Display port cable and a DVI-HDMI cable. Also each monitor should really have the same native resolution and have the same aspect ratio.

Not a bad setup Maxi, but line those dam monitors up fully! :o

How'd ya do that at that price? What adapter, or do those monitors have DP already?

I've only had a 2-3 hour go of it so I wanted to try some games first :P

I need to put some paper or something under then BenQ monitors as it leaves a gap between the top of the dell monitor but yet the are flush at the bottom. Going to have a play around on the weekend :)

I kind of agree that 16:10 will be seen less as games+media are starting to use 16:9 as the default ratio (console ports fault) and with larger monitors around 24"+ you won't notice the extra stretch.

Well its also due to the fact that there able to cut extra panels out from the sheets that so its cheaper for them etc.

But regardless if 16:10 is fading out or not, its down to preference, it will always be supported in games. Theres only one game that i know of that only works properly in 16:9 and thats 'The Last remnant', which i refuse to play for that reason. 70% of users are still using 4:3 anyway.

Just for the record im planning on starting a Eyefinity/TH2go thread soon, showing screenshots of one monitor vs 3 monitors and the extra FOV etc.

The user who confirmed this works saw no difference between the VGA and DVI inputs he was running http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17468

True i seen that already but havn't used VGA in a while wasn't able to confirm if VGA actually less quality ><

Just a quick shot of my current setup, just to show another real world example :D
Ideally you want them raised quite high as it does become more apparent to the proper seating position with a setup like this.

very nice setup + very clean :P

Got a lot of work to do to sort out my cabled mess! Only just noticed that VGA adapter, Do'h! could have had 3 23" for a similar price but then again it doesn't look like I have much desk space.

Get making that thread unknownsock :P

Was gonna be up tonight but my GF's forcing me to go out for a meal.
Pff it's only our anniversary

So should be up sometime during the weekend!

that youtube vid of l4d looks great, i definitely want to try this but 3 x dell 27" might be a bit heavy on the wallet

hmm just looking at my desk space and imagining 3 x dells together

that would be a whooping ~ 190cm of desktop space

do you think they will ever get it to work with different res monitors ?

For example I have a dell 3008 (2570*1600 with DP) and 2 x 2007s that are portrait at 1200 x 1600

Maybe, but i doubt thats a priority to them.
You can use SoftTH program to do that but its very limited.

Your also limited to if the game even supports that.
