hey all ok I've got the XFX GTS 250 512Mb (not everyone favorite card i know but it was bang on budget and was perfect at the time) full spec in sig

anyway I'm looking to upgrade to a new monitor so was wondering what would be the ideal match resolution wise currently I'm playing: BF2142, Far Cry 2, WiC, HawX so nothing too crazy and reading around 1440x900 seems to match.

however could i stretch to maybe 1680x1050 reading around that's almost 260 territory or does it depend on the game?

I think it depends on the game mate. I used to use a 4850 512mb which is near enough the same performance as a 250, i played @ 1920x1080 stuff like grid, far cry 2, cod4 and it played them all fine on max with 4xAA.
I think you could push it to a monitor with the bigger resolution as long as you dont want to use 8/16xAA

1680, anything lower is teh suck. get a 22" :)
some games will play fine at 1920, but the more demanding games wont play as nicely (max all with aa etc) at that res.

1680x it should handle fine - as said above tho some stuff will run ok at 1920x and other stuff you will have to drop the quality settings a bit to get decent framerates.

Hi. I have a very similar card (Inno3d GTS250 512mb) and have just bought a 22" Dell monitor which runs at 1680x1050.

I can run Crysis with no AA at 1680x1050 with high details (Win XP 32bit so DirectX 9) and most other games at the highest settings possible or as near as. They all run fine and Crysis has the odd moment of slight slowdown but generally runs great.
