Best Retro Console Games

I have just bought a couple of old consoles (7 heh) and am trawling the auction sites for old games to play, I would love some recommendations of some of the best or even worst (just for comedy value) games that I could pickup from years gone by. Anything from the Atari 2600 right through to the PS2! :cool:

On the Atari ST, the absolute MUST the BEST game ever made EVER is cops n robbers, especially if you have a mate to play it with too

Sega Master system - Golden Axe, R-Type. I can't think of anything else this early in the morning

Get River Raid and Kung Fu Master for the Atari 2600. Loved those games.

I just picked up R-Type for the SNES, is it much different? Golden Axe eh, yea defenately have to get that one!

Thanks for the 2600 stuff especially, it's before my time so the only games I am familiar with are the notoriously bad tiles such as ET and karate.

The machines I have just acquired are:

PS2
Gamecube
Dreamcast
N64
Megadrive
SNES
GameBoy

But I’ll be picking up some older stuff (NES/Famicom, Atari 2600 etc) pretty soon.
