Best Retro Handheld

100% do NOT get the one with an included SD card. ROMs and card quality will be terrible.
I got my RG Cube (white) from Aliexpress, fully tracked delivery it arrived in 10 days and was £127 inc fees and delivery.

I would either get this or order a Retroid Pocket mini direct from Retroid - https://www.goretroid.com/en-gb/collections/frontpage/products/retroid-pocket-mini-handheld
Cheers I'll take your advice. Would I be able to clone the roms from my super console X cube or find them somewhere else? And then get a decent Sd card off Rainforest.

Im not sure about the Retroid pocket mini, but the setup of my Cube was easy. I have roms in (for example) H:\Roms\Game Boy then the .gb file

Here's some guides.

Amiga looks great on the 1:1 cube display.

I bought it seemed a decent price for a good bit of gear I'm hopefully going to get a lot of joy from. Now to harvest the roms.

Any particular SD card recommendations?
I purchased multiple Lexar Fly cards. Faster than similarly priced SanDisk ones. The speed makes no difference in the console, but massive difference when bulk copying files via a computer.

I bought a 512GB Samsung card from a highstreet retailer. Same price as Amazon.

There’s an issue with the cube when using it wearing polarized sunglasses.

Im using my iPhone 15 pro now in sun with the polarized glasses on and can see the screen fine.

An IPS screen though (this Cube), its completely dark - i thought it had broken and was not turning on!
Ive used other LCD displays in the sun without issue.

Edit. Seems totally random or the way anti glare is applied. Steam deck I cannot see the screen with polarized sunglasses on, RG35XX I can no problem. Two HP work monitors both the same model, one I can see fine and the other is completely dark!

If you have £200 I'd just put that towards the steamdeck, but that's me :)
Steam deck is great (the trackpads are unbeatable for some games) but its hardly a 'travel light' device especially once you start bringing other things like cases, power bank, chargers etc.
Being a fair bit more powerful, its capable of a lot more than mobile devices but also chews through battery on the heavier to run things.
That said, I like pushing mine to its limit

Problem with that is I'd need to put another 400 quid towards that as well as I'd want the 1tb Oled option. I think for that I'll wait. Might be a SD2 announced? Who knows. I'm really looking to playing old snes/amiga/spectrum/Sega and the likes on hand held so this seems like a no brainer to me. Just to start with anyway then I'll go from there.

What's considered to be a really good top notch handheld? As you know I've ordered the RG Cube and looking forward to it. But I'm not sure what to be looking for specs wise. I've got my eye on the RP5 now from Retroid. It looks damn nice. And Oled. Would it be able to play dolphin/ps2/Xbox games? At £166 I'm really tempted. I can't believe how cheap these things are im like a kid in a sweetshop. :D

Haha welcome to the slippery slope of Retro Handhelds.

RP5 will probably the best when it releases, but the RP4Pro is not going to be a million miles off in terms of performance. The Odin and Odin 2 are also good contenders.

But for performance you're looking at a Steam Deck as the best performing one (or one of the other handheld PCs)

If you want Xbox emulation you will need a Deck or ROG Ally etc. as no Android emulators.
