Best Room Fragrances That Work And Not Overbearing?

I have 2x reed diffusers from Dunelm in my room and they don't emit any scent until you disturb them by flipping the reeds 180 deg.

I have a Glade Autospray in my bathroom which works but is overbearing, plus the scent is a laundry smell so not exactly homely.

Anyone know some good fragrance mechanisms that work consistently and smell natural so as not to hurt the sinuses? No aerosols etc...
