best route to upgrade spec.

Hi,

just built my first rig and decided to pass on my old vaio K-315Z to my brother and sister (thats my contribution to the environment :D RECYCLE", anyway the maximum supported ram is 1gig but if i reinstall a clean copy xp pro with out all the sony rubbish will it support 2gig of ram, also thinking of throwing in a larger IDE hdd.

hmm i'm not sure its pretty old but blimey its slow just rather spend a few quid getting as much as possible out of it.
