Best RTS games for PC?

What are the OC's communitiy favourite RTS games?

Looking to grab a new game, was thinking of Shogun2.

Any other suggestions? I've just came back to PC gaming so if it hasnt been released on Xbox, I wont know about it

Company of Heroes or something from the Total War series if you have patience (Shogun 2 is most polished). If less patient and prefer hectic gameplay, then Dawn of War series.

Note; Shogun 2 is the most 'polished' as it's newest but it's marmite. I for example found it a little stale after a while as there's not a lot of variety. Rome and Medieval 2 are frickin' amazing! Just a little dated.
