Picking my new car up on Wednesday and I've got a couple of spots of rust to repair. I know the basics of sorting it - sand down, anti-rust chemical goes on, filler on the bigger patches, primer and paint.
I' m just checking - 1) What's the best chemical to use to kill the rust
2) Is there anything I'm missing?

Cheers

I would stick with Kurust.

My only tip would be to make sure that you expose all of the rust before putting the rust treatment on. On my first ever attempt at sorting rust out I didn't rub back enough of the surrounding paint which meant that I missed some rust hidden under what looked like unblemished paint at the time.

divided opinions on kurust then :p

Should I be using anti rust primer or just the normal stuff? I know they pretty much all say just paint straight over the rust remover but I dont trust it

Up to you again, depending on the situation I get it back to bare metal, rust treatment over that to kill any last bits then just standard primer on top (or filler then primer if needed)
