Bought a £699 laptop for my brother last night which I'm configuring to his needs and posting down to him.
I'm up in Glasgow he's down in Chichester (south of London).

No idea of the best and safest way to post it down.
Considering the value in it I just want to make sure its covered.

Thanks.

Make sure the courier actually covers laptops as a lot won't. They let you buy the enchanced cover but don't cover it.

It is were me, I would use DPD or Royal Mail Special Deilvery with the enchanced 1k£ cover. You could also try Mail Boxes Etc if there is a branch near you.

I would get some 20-30mm styrene insulation board (can get from wickes or B&Q) and cut it to make a box round the box then wrap in shipping / crate paper. Don't forget to mark your box as fragile.

Do not skimp on your courier with this. Do not use Hermes or Yodel or HDN.

Royal Mail Special Delivery is decent £1,000 coverage upto a 10KG box is £23.60

Never had an issue with it, and have posted quite a few laptops over the years.

I have sent much more fragile things than laptops without issue, hence my sugestion of which courier and packaging material and make sure you mark as fragile. Royal mail won't pay out if you don't and it is fragile and it gets broken from transit. Needs to be plastered all over the box too. I assume you have the original laptop packaging?

I have bought laptops new online and they have come in their regular outer boxing which shows what they are with no additional packaging etc but only used suppliers who ship by DPD.

Better to be safe and over package than sorry and loose your money. Compo claims take a while too.

Royal Mail Special Delivery is the best option though and will be under £25

Got it away today £23 delivered by 1pm tommorow.
thanks for the advice, my bro will be delighted with his new laptop!
