Best Screen

You buy GPU's for the screen, not the other way round ;)

They'll crap out over 1680*1050, sell the 9600's and upgrade them and get a nice 24".

so will they not be able to handle 1920x1200?? i was thinking about getting the OcUK Value Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

my advice is to buy the biggest and bestest screen you can aford within you budget and if games struggle at higher res lower using the cards scaler to a res thats ideal but when you come to upgrade the screens aready there waiting for a fresh start and new higher resolution for gaming...enjoy

after all a screen is technically for life (once you have yourself a decent one)
and should take higher priority as it the one peice of kit that you use more than any other....while the rest of the hardware like cpu and m/boards and memory fade into time and you end up buying new kit yearly or as some in here do monthly:D ...well okay maybe every couple of months.

me i have saved and got my self a new 30" hazro and im loving it....only ever had dual TN screens upto now and IPS is awsome and i have by the way sli 2 x 8800gt KO from evga and most games work at the default res or if not i lower to a more comfortable level...

going by you £400 limit that is if you want a larger screen then my choices would be...

Samsung SM-2693HM 26" ... this would be better than the hanns-g,
and has beaten the hanns-g in many roundups in computer mags like computer shopper and pc plus and its only a couple of tenners more in price.

dell 2709..shop around you may find some for around £400..
some reviews and some people say it has lag i have seen and played on one and havent noticed much and seemed low to me but every one is different.
also it has hardware scaling built (thus lag) in so is much better than graphic card on resultions and has a top notch metal casing although not as sleek as my hazro.....
i was thinking of making one of these my next puchase for my 2 screen setup..:D

some rate the samsung and some dont ...

on a side note when i mentioned the samsung i never stated that it was any good for photo or picture work as it mainly aimed towards gaming but if had £400 id stay clear of the hanns and samsung completely and go with...

A...if i was desperate for TN get the acer 24" g24 in Copper or Blue.
B...get the HP 24" 2475w ips screen
C...Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24" Or save up for the 27" dell

have seen acer screen floating around £300 inc del and Hp's for under £400 inc del so they are viable..

regards
