I want to use liquid cooling for my CPU but I don't want hassle or maintenance. What would you guys say is the best Self Contained liquid cooler currently on the market for CPU cooling?

Do you have a budget?

I guess the H100 should be the best as it has a 240mm radiator, I can't see it on the OC web site though.

the H100 seems to be the best based on reviews, however in terms of max overclock or operating temp or even noise I couldn't justify £100 vs. £50 for the Silver Arrow (which is silent compared with even a few case fans and runs 70C @ 4.5GHZ)

I'm looking for a contained liquid cooler that will significantly lower my cpu temps and run silently. I'm not going to be overclocking but I will be putting it under heavy load when I game.

Can you please elaborate on the crap bit? Why are they crap? Is it because they are not as big as the noctua, or is it because they are not cooling as good.

Both tbh, even the highest spec all in one WC will achieve the same results as say a Noctua, or a Silver arrow, which tbh makes them a total waste of money,
Plus they look aweful imo :p

H100 avocate here,

It can be loud of full whack but the temps speak for themselves, 21c idle, 56c on full load at 3.8Ghz

Hmm, Not sure if i agree on the awful look tbh but i suppose this a matter of personal preference. As far as performance go i think i had seen few reviews that suggest even the corsair h70 outperform the noctua, let alone the h100. Also by having closed wc system you get to use any ram you like and do not have to worry about it not being able fit. As it was in my case with 4 reapers. I'll try to find that performance chart and will post it here if i do.

check out this months CustomPC mag, they do a comparision of coolers, I'll see if I can dig up a PDF of the page and post it here for you

h100 is good and performs ok in tests I've seen and can keep some of the hottest chips cool as long as you have the space for it in your case!

Bear in mind the H70 shows as very loud under full load but this is due to the lol fans corsair supplied. Once changed it is very quiet.
I can't really see h80 or h100 being worse performer than the h70

Jay794: 3.8ghz only?

Well thats what I'm running at the moment.

Anybody who says the stock Corsair fans are loud must have amazing hearing, I can only just hear the H100 over the 200mm fans in my case when it's on full whack, most of the time I only have it on 1 or 2 unless I'm doing benchmarks or stress tests

Well, basically, there's plenty of conflicting info, some say air is better other say closed loop are.

The air ones are cheaper/the same price and will normally be quiter or atleast just as quiet.

The closed loop are simply too gimmicky TBH. Only good if you don't have much space.

Hmmm I'm confused every review I see people posts suggest massive drops in temperature. Yet here there are several people stating that it's not much better than cooling.

When you say full load do you mean overclocked?

I am simply interested in keeping my CPU uber cool. I don't overclock but I do run intense games like battlefield and some big MMOS.

I'm using a HAF X case with a Coolermaster V10 and under load at the moment I get 38c 3.3 ghz (cause im not over clocking)

An air cooler will be better then.

Air cooling (low/mid) - average user
High end air - high end computers
Self enclosed water - average user who likes gimmicky crap
Custom water - extreme, godly user.
