Hi,

I'm actually trying to cool my CPU a bit (bought an AIO too).

I'm looking into Bios settings, it's actually set in offset mode with a vcore of 1.17 (if i remember)

I was wondering about adaptive mode and which values I should try for the different settings.

I don't plan to OC right now, just having the boost at 4.4 but with less heat.

Anyone can help?

Thanks a lot !

I can't help, really, I am not in to overclocking! But just in passing I am sure that somewhere I have seen an intel document that states that the recommended settings are 1.19V and Adaptive. I also remember someone saying that they got 4.6GHz at about 1.3V but beyond that the heat was just too much.

What AIO do you have?

Yoyr CPU should easily run at 4.4Ghz / 1.25v if you set manually, then all your cores are running at 4.4 not just one, you will find the temps are better with a pre-set voltage instead of auto, in most cases anyway.

I will try that then but in adaptive my vcore never goes above 1.10 and never had any issues for now :)

Let me provide more info about that, maybe that can help.

I got my first Watercooling AIO (silent loop 360) and maybe i was expecting too much of it but i wanted to know if my temps are correct.

I run it at 4.4 but i set the core at 44/44/43/42 so it's more often at 4.2 for now

I mostly use it for gaming and few video encoding for work.

My tems are 33/37 idle
In game it can goes to 60 for brief period of time but mostly 55/60 max.

i did a stress test on xtu and here are the results and temps : https://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/422113442.png

I used kryonaut thermal paste and added 3 extra fan for push pull.
My case is a Enthoo Luxe
Gpu : evga 1080 Ti FtW3

Intake
2 x140 fans on the front
1x140 on the bottom

Exhaust :
6 fans on the top -push pull
1 140 on the back.

Al the fans are silent wings 3

And last but not least there are some screenshot of my bios settings, maybe you guys have optimisation tu suggest :

Looks like you have a decent setup, there's loads of overclocking guides depending on your motherboard - check online for one of those, usually you only need to change a few settings or they have a 4.5Ghz + auto overclock option built into most.

Thanks.

I delided my CPu yesterday btw, gained kinda 12 to 15 degrees in game. Needed to know if it's save to stress it out with XTU while on adaptive ? I read XTU does not over volt while stressing?

Should be fine keep an eye on your temps, I delidded too made same difference as yours, runs much cooler now.

I'd try something like:

45 Multi
1.25vCore
Cache ratio 40
Mem 1666 whilst testing cpu oc

See if that's stable then go from there

I am a bit worried about those temps. I have a 4790K here and it runs ten degrees cooler than yours. My idle is 27 degrees and I rarely see it hit 50 degrees playing games. It's running at intel recommended settings ( not the BIOS ).
It's a bit of a wild guess, but I suspect that the reason is because you have a top mounted radiator and you are exhausting though that radiator. The problem may be that the 1080 is sat below it heating up the cooler and so stopping the CPU from cooling down as much as it can. I thing if you want to overclock the CPU then you would gain volumes by reversing the flow of fair so the top radiator is an intake OR moving the radiator to the front of the case and using it as your main intake. Another alternative I found was to greatly increase the RPM of the front intake fans to overwhelm the GPU but honestly with a 1080ti that's hard.
If, incidentally, it's a hybrid 1080 then I would still strongly suspect that there is an issue with fans here, perhaps just not what I said!! The 4790K certainly can be running cooler than it is.
