Best settings for my ram?

I have 4Gb of OCZ PC2-8000 (2x2Gb) in a P35-DS4 running a Q6600 at 3Ghz (9x33) under Vista 32 bit.

The ram is rated at 1000, but shows as 800 in bios (why?) It is currently at stock voltage (1.8) with timings of 5-5-5-15 on a ratio of 2:3. Seems OK, though I would have expected better performance than I am currently getting. Can anyone recommend some better settings? I'd like to run this ram at 1:1 if possible; can this be done without underclocking?

Will I see much of a difference if I switch to Vista 64 bit? (I have the DVD; just haven't got around to installing it yet).

Thanks.

You should be able to set the ram divider up to 3.00 so that the RAM runs at 1000mhz. Running it 1:1 isnt an option really youll be running it at 667mhz which will be even worse, and I doubt that mobo will manage 500FSB with a quad to get it running 1:1@1Ghz.

I already have it at 3.00 and it's running at 1000mhz.

Ah. Yes, you're quite right. I guess 2:3 is the best I can hope for.

Cheers. :)
