hey guys love u all <3 :D. got my m4 64gb ssd. using w7 ultimate is there any settings i need to change to make it perform to max also i have a z68 i also have some intel rapid storage technology on my desktop what is that O_O

Switch the SATA controller its connected too from IDE to AHCI mode, this may require a re-install.

Also disable disk defrag.

By default Windows 7 will automatically detest the ssd and disable defrag for you. I also enable write back cache under intel rapid storage technology. AS SSD showed quite an improvement before and after with the setting enabled after. It does have risks though regarding data loss if power failure. However this doesn't bother me and it hasn't for over a year.

Keep the benchmarks to a minimum as this apparently degrades the drive over time.

Apart from that. Enjoy it... then let us know in a few hours if you notice any difference to your old HDD? (remembering that a fresh install of windows 7 will make things quicker and speedier regardless of the ssd)

There's something wrong with him if he doesn't notice a difference! :D

Well his boot time will certainly be significantly faster but, apart from that, if you have a streamlined system (i.e. no volumes of apps running in the background) coupled with a fast old school HDD - i sometimes find it hard to justfy the SSD for the small difference in speed.

But the windows load time is always entertaining after years of long waits...

Ahh, i see - i think well leave it there as faceman123 is very happy with his purchase and we may take the shine off it (although i agree in general with your assessment - but i suspect you run a streamlined system such as myself which is why the difference is negligible for us.).

Enjoy faceman - if you don't leave your computer on 24/7 you'll never tire of the novelty of sub 30 second boot times.

Aye... we best keep schtum :D

I'm sure the constant restarts will get tiring after a while. However, in the mean time... Be sure to rock on and see how many programs you can launch in 10 seconds without it slowing down :D FUN FUN FUN!!!
