Best Single Player Game ATM

Assume I've lived in a dark hole for the last... lets say 6 months. I'm looking for a really absorbing, interesting game. What's the best game you've played as a solo game in that period... any genre and if you can be bothered, tell me why.

Crysis, COD4 or The Witcher for me but COD4 should've been longer.

If it wasn't PC only (I assume it is), I'd say Mass Effect by a country mile.

PC only - I've spent too long away from PC games, FPS especially - I was beginning to find them all too "samey" ! However, as stated, genre isn't important, I enjoy most.

How does Witcher compare to Oblivion?

OK, I like it so far. I never thought about trying Witcher. Read some good things but didn't' really consider it. Was about to buy COD4 so this really just confirms it. Any more for any more?

I said 6 months not 6 years But yeah I agree... a classic, however I want something i've not played before..

Witcher is top of my list so far.
COD4 a close second.
Stalker, tried it but never really got into.
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is also a nice suggestion might take a look at that to !

He said he wants something to last six months, COD4's mutliplayer could, but if he wants single player it will last around a day lol.

Nope, I said a game FROM the last 6 months

Anyway I got The Witcher, just my type of game, loving at the moment, a bit more Linear than oblivion but there's something different about it (and no its not the bugs and CTD's ). Lets see if it'll keep me interested enough to finish it (Oblivion didn't), i'm on chapter 2 right now.

I always get the latest FM, so i've been playing FM2008 on and off since November.

Portal.
Civ4.
And CoD4, although much too short.

imho.

Civ4 has been played to death, just started a new game the other day actually, It's easily one of the best games i've ever played !

I'm happy with Witcher for now. Cheers for the responses
